The FTP service is the most used method of transferring and sharing files and folders over the Internet. The problem with FTP is that it requires a client in order to access the files stored on a server. A much better way for sharing files is by using the CrushFTP, an application which was built on the FTP technology, allowing users to share and transfer files using a simple web interface.

The application doesn't need to be installed and it's enough to run the executable downloaded from the Internet. After doing so, a welcome screen will be displayed, in which the user can create a new admin user for the application and can choose to have the program installed as a system service or just run as a temporary server. After activating the server, one will be able to access it using any web browser, just by navigating to the IP address of his computer.

After entering the chosen username and password, the user will be able to log in to the web interface and add files and folders to the server, making them accessible to others. One can also define the users which will have access to the FTP server. For each of them, a username and password can be set, together with the level of access to the shared files.

After that, any configured user who accesses the server address will have access to the files directly and will be able to easily download them, without requiring a FTP client to be installed.

Pros

It allows you to share files and folders using a web-based interface. Besides that, each user can have its own password and personalized level of access. Furthermore, the program doesn't require a FTP client to be installed.

Cons

Configuring network settings can be challenging for beginners, especially when using a router to share an Internet connection. CrushFTP allows you to easily share all your files and folders using a web-based interface, without having to install any FTP clients.
